In 'Classic' / light mode they are less irritating, but still very annoying that you can't break out Mix and Edit windows the way you break out plug-ins across multiple screens. How the heck PT resurrects this 'vintage' titlebar design - I have no idea.
PRO TOOLS DARK MODE PRO
You can see the title bar of Pro Tools is fine (white flat along the top of the screen), but INSIDE Pro Tools Mix/Edit windows have titlebars from another era. Windows 8 adopted minimalist flat look way before it became trendy. The problem is that these blue titlebars and thick borders don't exist in any other software besides Pro Tools.
PRO TOOLS DARK MODE WINDOWS 10
Windows 10 already looks fantastic by default. These are built in and work perfectly fine. You are right, it looks terrible on windows with those light blue titlebars.Īlso, I think that windows wastes quite a lot of screen estate with those titlebars.Yes of course you can customize windows titlebar colours or turn Windows UI 'dark mode' on. When I used Windows XP many years ago there was a dark scheme, that would do exactly that.Īlso, I think that windows wastes quite a lot of screen estate with those titlebars. Is there no way to apply skins to windows, so that it has dark titlebars. What do you think? You are right, it looks terrible on windows with those light blue titlebars. No, it looks like s**t on Windows, sorry. Especially now since they've given attention to the UI and are boasting about the new looks. This is about Avid not addressing something they should have done many years ago. Those who use Pro Tools on Windows will know exactly what I mean. But with the light colour scheme it wasn't so prominent. Yes, Avid seem to have stopped caring about this years ago. Plugin windows can be separated, but not the Mix/Edit window. Izotope RX, Ableton, Steinberg - you name it. This surely is crazy as pretty much all the other software doesn't have this issue. You can't move Edit/Mix windows to separate screens unless you extend the parent window.

But they somehow manage to resurrect this ancient Parent/Child window structure and look.

Where the heck do they find it in the system? Windows has had a 'flat' look since version 8. See the screenshot attached and look at these light blue titlebars and window borders, red rectangular button etc. In fact, with the dark theme enabled Pro Tools now looks like a shareware piece of software from the 90s, or a ghost of Windows Vista. Usually I love dark themes, but it feels like Avid haven't given much attention to the Windows version at all. I have voiced this opinion on Avid Pro Tools Facebook, but this seems like a good place for discussing the topic.Īs a Windows 10 user I might be in the minority here, but here are my thoughts.
